Poropuntius Opisthopterus (Poropuntius opisthopterus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Cyprinidae. It inhabits freshwater waters. This species can reach a maximum total length of 28.6 cm. With a trophic level of 3.2, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. It is assessed as Data Deficient on the IUCN Red List.

Differs from P. carinatus in having a somewhat smaller head and smaller eye, and in lacking a stripe on body above the lateral line and submarginal stripes on caudal fin lobes; The 28.6 cm syntype has 10 gill rakers on outer edge of the first gill arch .
