Platygillellus Smithi (Platygillellus smithi), first described by Dawson, 1982 is a tiny fish in the family Dactyloscopidae (order Blenniiformes). Adults typically reach 3.40 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. Recorded depth range: 0 to 8 metres. It occurs in Tropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Data Deficient.

The dorsal finlet is 4-spined, its height about equal to predorsal length), distance between 3rd and 4th dorsal spines approximately equal to the distance between 1st and 3rd. Anal fin rays 22, segmented. Scales 11 - 12 in the straight portion of the lateral line .
