📖 Overview
Elongate carpet shark (Parascyllium elongatum), first described by Last & Stevens, 2008 is a large fish in the family Parascylliidae (order Orectolobiformes). Adults typically reach 42.10 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. It occurs in Subtropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Data Deficient.

This species is characterized by a very long, slender body (depth 18.5 in length); very small head (length less than 13% TL); small eye (eye length less than 8% of head length); small pectoral fins (anterior margin ca. 8% TL); dorsal fins small, low, with narrowly rounded apices; body color greyish with darker bands separated by slightly diagonal, vertical rows of white spots; no dark collar-like marking over gill region .: elongated.
