Banded Grubfish
📖 Overview
Banded Grubfish (Parapercis striolata) is a ray-finned fish of the family Pinguipedidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in deep-water environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 20 cm. It occurs at depths between 200 and 310 metres. With a trophic level of 3.6, it is a mid-level predator. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

🐟 Physical Description
Dorsal spines (total): 4 - 5; Dorsal soft rays (total): 23; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 18 - 21. No dark bars on body. Scales of dorsal part of body and postorbital head with a brown spot, thus forming longitudinal rows. A large black spot basally in spinous part of dorsal fin. Canine teeth at front of upper jaw 6 (Ref 42740).: elongated.

Marine; bathydemersal; depth range 200 - 310 m . Deep-water Central Pacific: Japan to Australia; also reported from Eastern Indian Ocean for Australia and Indonesia.
