Pao Abei
📖 Overview
Pao Abei (Pao abei), first described by Roberts, 1998 is a small fish in the family Cyprinidae (order Cypriniformes). Adults typically reach 10.30 cm in maximum length. It inhabits freshwater systems including rivers, streams, and lakes. It occurs in Tropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Least Concern.The species is kept in the aquarium hobby. Care requirements and behaviour align broadly with other Cyprinidae kept in the hobby.

🐟 Physical Description
Distinguished from T. leiurus and from all other Tetraodon by its color: entire dorsolateral surface of body with numerous pale spots uniformly distributed over a dark background. In live specimens observed from the Meklong and Chao Phraya basins, the spots are orange and the background brown or blackish brown. In some freshly preserved specimens from the Mekong basin (Xe Bang Fai) the spots were faintly orange. All adults have numerous spots. In preserved specimens the spots are pale .: short and / or deep.
