Pachycara Karenae (Pachycara karenae), first described by Anderson, 2012 is a medium-sized fish in the family Zoarcidae (order Perciformes). Adults typically reach 33.60 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. Recorded depth range: 2780 to 3100 metres. It occurs in Deep-water waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator.

Dorsal soft rays (total): 90; Anal soft rays: 68 - 69; Vertebrae: 92. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: vertebrae 24 + 68 = 92; no pelvic fins; ventral lateral line originating immediately behind posteriormost postorbital pore; nape and cheeks with scales; branchiostegal rays 6-7; gill slit extending ventrally to half pectoral base height or slightly lower .: elongated; Cross section: oval.
