📖 Overview
Palefin batfish (Ogcocephalus rostellum), first described by Bradbury, 1980 is a medium-sized fish in the family Ogcocephalidae (order Lophiiformes). Adults typically reach 19.00 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. Recorded depth range: 28 to 228 metres. It occurs in Subtropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Least Concern.

🐟 Physical Description
Rostrum resembling the shelflike condition seen in notatus; for 4 cm SL or less, a short median horn is developed on the rostrum. It has narrower mouth and lower number of scales in the cheek lateral line series, usually 8 and in the premaxillary series 3. Pectoral fin ray usually 13. Has a flatter disk with less elevated cranium compared to parvus .: short and / or deep.

Marine; demersal; depth range 28 - 228 m . Subtropical; 37°N - 17°N North Carolina to Florida Keys in the USA; also in Jamaica.
