Found at bottom depths of rivers and streams. Inhabits areas with sand or pea-gravel from small streams to large rivers . Usually found in streams with clear and moving waters . Breeds when water levels begin to rise, but whether it leaves permanent water or not is unknown. Occasionally seen in markets .
Anal fin with a convex distal margin; dorsal fin with black anterior and distal margins; a black distal margin on the caudal fin; most scales with a black crescent-shaped mark on their base .: fusiform / normal.
