Hibino’s worm eel (Muraenichthys hibinoi) is a ray-finned fish of the family Ophichthidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in benthic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 47.6 cm. With a trophic level of 4.2, it is a mid-level predator.

This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: the dorsal fin originates above the 41st or 42nd lateral line pore, anterior to a vertical through the mid anus; distance from anus to the origin of dorsal fin 57.37%-61.8% in HL; predorsal vertebrae 40-41, preanal vertebrae 50, and total vertebrae count 140-141; fifty lateral line pores before the vent; and all maxillary, mandibular, and vomerine teeth multiserial and blunt .: eel-like; Cross section: circular.
