📖 Overview
Yellowtop Jewelfish (Meganthias carpenteri), first described by Anderson, 2006 is a medium-sized fish. Adults typically reach 30.10 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. It occurs in Tropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Data Deficient.

🐟 Physical Description
Dorsal spines (total): 10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17 - 18; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 8; Vertebrae: 26. Differs from all other congeners by its lips mostly covered with very small scales, upper lip lacking rugosities, lower lip with rugosities along dorsal part; and maxilla almost squared off poteriorly where dorsal and posterior boarders of maxilla forming a right angle .: short and / or deep.
