Atlantic pearlside (Maurolicus weitzmani) is a ray-finned fish of the family Sternoptychidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in deep-water environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 5.7 cm. It occurs at depths between 0 and 100 metres. With a trophic level of 3.3, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.
Vertebrae: 32 - 33. AC photophores 22-26, usually 23-24. Head 29.5-33% SL, eye 9.5-11.5% SL, upper jaw 17-19% SL, maximum body depth at or behind pectoral fin base 22.5-25.5% SL. Stomach and hind portion of intestine not pigmented .
