Lycenchelys Ryukyuensis (Lycenchelys ryukyuensis) is a ray-finned fish of the family Zoarcidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters. This species can reach a maximum total length of 17 cm. It occurs at depths between 991 and 1533 metres. With a trophic level of 3.3, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms.

🐟 Physical Description

Dorsal soft rays (total): 110 - 114; Anal soft rays: 98 - 104; Vertebrae: 118 - 124. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: Vertebrae 22-24 + 96-102 = 118-124; no interorbital pore and occipital pores; 3 (rarely 4) postorbital pores; 6 + 1 (rarely 6 + 2) suborbital pores; 4 + 4 preoperculomandibular pores; lateral line ventral, complete; 110-114 dorsal fin rays; 98-104 anal fin rays; pelvic fin base about mid-distance between the eye and pectoral fin base .: eel-like; Cross section: oval.
