📖 Overview
Linophryne Brevibarbata (Linophryne brevibarbata) is a ray-finned fish of the family Linophrynidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in deep-water environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 10 cm. It occurs at depths between 600 and 2000 metres. With a trophic level of 3.7, it is a mid-level predator. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Females distinguished by the following characteristics: distal escal appendage less than 10% SL; short posterior ascal appendage present; barbel divided nearly at base into 3 unpaired primary branches; subdermal pigment in two bands on side of body; males without pointed sphenotic spines .
