Spiny flathead (Kumococius rodericensis) is a ray-finned fish of the family Platycephalidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in benthic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 25 cm. It occurs at depths between 6 and 75 metres. With a trophic level of 3.7, it is a mid-level predator. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.
Dorsal spines (total): 9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11 - 12; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 11 - 13. Second dorsal fin spine noticeably shorter than third. Pectoral fin with a falcate posterior margin and a whitish central area. Interopercular flap present.: elongated.
