Maeklong sheatfish (Kryptopterus hesperius) is a ray-finned fish of the family Siluridae. It inhabits freshwater waters. This species can reach a maximum total length of 24.9 cm. With a trophic level of 4.1, it is a mid-level predator.

Head length 14.0-15.2% SL; head width 12.2-12.3% SL; body depth at anus 23.0-23.8% SL; eye diameter 25.6-27.9% HL; vomerine teeth present in single crescentic band; a distinct nuchal concavity; and mandibular barbels reaching beyond anterior base of anal fin. Fins hyaline, with small dark-brown spots occasionally present . : elongated.
