📖 Overview
Yellow-spotted boxfish (Kentrocapros flavimaculatus), first described by Matsuura, 2023 is a small fish in the family Aracanidae (order Tetraodontiformes). Adults typically reach 11.40 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. Recorded depth range: 144 to 172 metres. It occurs in Subtropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator.

Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal soft rays: 9. This species is distinguished by the following: lateral sides of the body with many yellow spots; a distinct spine on the middle of each dorsolateral ridge of the carapace; without spines on the lateral and ventrolateral ridges of the carapace; gill opening located below the posterior half of the eye .Cross section: angular.
