Large-spined flathead (Insidiator macracanthus) is a ray-finned fish. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in benthic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 26 cm. With a trophic level of 3.7, it is a mid-level predator. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Total gill rakers on first arch 7-9, usually 8.: elongated.
