📖 Overview

Adults inhabit middle reaches of rivers, with abundant aquatic vegetation and moderate to fast current, with rocks or gravel bottom . A short-lived species which also occurs in rivers on the low plains, with little current and at high altitudes. Is threatened due to habitat destruction, pollution and the introduction of other species . Possibly of hybrid origin . Migration pattern is inferred from the behavior of other species in the same genus .
