Snout 27-30% in head length; postorbital distance 60-67% in head length. Head with strongly convex anterior profile.

Freshwater; benthopelagic. Tropical South America: Several localities of southern Venezuela, including Atabapo and Negro rivers, the Casiquiare Canal and La Neblina National Park; also collected in the Rio Meta system in Colombia and some localities in Bolivia.
