📖 Overview
Rough shortnose seabat (Halicmetus granulosus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Ogcocephalidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters. This species can reach a maximum total length of 6.9 cm. It occurs at depths between 595 and 605 metres. With a trophic level of 3.2, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms.

This species is distinguished by the following characters; with various-sized bucklers densely covering the body surfaces; further differs from its congeners by the following set of characters: body disk relatively small, with disk width 59.7% SL; orbit is small, its diameter 8.3% SL; interorbital moderately wide, 7.4% SL; tail length, 47.7% SL; illicial trough opening is wide and high; adult no dorsal fin absent; pectoral-fin rays 13. Colouration: preserved individuals are uniformly creamy white; peritoneal membrane is pale with dense melanophores and scattered black dots .Cross section: flattened.
