Henn's Knifefish
📖 Overview
Henn's Knifefish (Gymnotus henni) is a ray-finned fish of the family Gymnotidae. It inhabits freshwater waters. This species can reach a maximum total length of 31.2 cm. With a trophic level of 3.4, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. It is assessed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0; Anal soft rays: 223 - 275. Head with brown ground color and irregularly shaped pale-yellow blotches located on chin, gular area, behind and under eyes, over opercle, and between eyes; pale yellow bands as broad or broader than dark brown bands on anterior half of body; obliquely oriented hyaline and dark stripes at caudal end of anal fin .
