Barred groppo
📖 Overview
Barred groppo (Grammatonotus pelipel) is a ray-finned fish of the family Callanthiidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in pelagic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 4.9 cm. It occurs at depths between 136 and 151 metres. With a trophic level of 3.2, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms.

🐟 Physical Description
This species is distinguished from all its congeners by its barred colouration which is most evident in specimens less than 3.0 cm SL (barring vaguely apparent in colour photograph of largest specimen examined. 4.93 cm SL), but very obvious in preserved individual; shape of the caudal fin is distinctive, being truncate to slightly emarginate in small specimens, but with upper and lower lobes produced in largest example known .Cross section: compressed.
