📖 Overview

Malayan silver-biddy (Gerres silaceus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Gerreidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in benthic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 10.7 cm. It occurs at depths between 0 and 5 metres. With a trophic level of 3.3, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms.

Dorsal spines (total): 9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 7. Body and head uniformly silvery-ochre; depth approximately 50% of SL. Supraneural bones 2. Scales between 5th dorsal fin spine base and lateral line 3.5. Last dorsal fin spine almost the same length or slightly shorter than penultimate spine. Anal spines generally slender . Caudal fin short, lobes broadly rounded. Pelvic fin rays with wide white margin posteriorly .: short and / or deep; Cross section: compressed.
