Samota dwarfboy (Eviota samota) is a ray-finned fish of the family Gobiidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in reef-associated environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 1 cm. It occurs at depths between 3 and 5 metres. With a trophic level of 2.9, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms.
Dorsal spines (total): 6 - 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 8. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: combination of a cephalic sensory canal pore system with only SOT and paired PITO pores; 8/8 dorsal/anal fin-ray formula; thickened ends of one or more of ventralmost pectoral-fin rays suggestive of branching; absence of fifth pelvic-fin ray; red-orange body basic color with a golden-yellow head, pectoral-fin base, and caudal-fin base.Cross section: oval.
