Freshwater; demersal. Tropical South America: coastal rivers of eastern Brazil from Itapemirim River in the south, and including the larger basins of the Doce and Mucuri rivers in Espirito Santo and Minas Gerais states, to the Frades River in the north, in Bahia State.
