📖 Overview
Shelf flounder (Etropus cyclosquamus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Paralichthyidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in benthic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 9 cm. With a trophic level of 3.4, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Marine; demersal; depth range ? - 31 m . Temperate Central Atlantic: north of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, to about Palm Beach on east coast of Florida and in Gulf of Mexico from Fort Myers, Florida, to Mississippi; apparently rare or absent in southern Florida.
