Redfin darter (Etheostoma whipplei), first described by Girard, 1859 is a small fish in the family Percidae (order Perciformes). Adults typically reach 9.00 cm in maximum length. It inhabits freshwater systems including rivers, streams, and lakes. It occurs in Temperate waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Least Concern.

Freshwater; benthopelagic. Temperate; 38°N - 32°N North America: Gulf drainages from Mobile Bay in Alabama to Neches River in Texas, USA; Mississippi River basin from Mississippi to southeastern Kansas, eastern Oklahoma and northeastern Texas.
