Enteromius Tanapelagius (Enteromius tanapelagius) is a ray-finned fish of the family Cyprinidae. It inhabits freshwater waters in pelagic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 5.2 cm. With a trophic level of 3, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

🐟 Physical Description

A small sized, shallow and narrow-bodies barb . Head depth and body depth are about equal . The eyes are large, its diameter 34% of head length, with a small interorbital width . The lower jaw is rather long, 43.3% of head length, has a high inclination and makes a pronounced angle with the ventral head profile . The pharyngeal tooth formula is 5-3-2:2-3-5 . The barbels are short, the anterior barbel length 4.7% of head length . Scales: 10-12 predorsal scales . Live specimens are in general silvery white and the dorsal side of the head is blackish .
