Affinities: superficially similar to B. salessei (complete lateral line, without barbel); B. clauseni is also related to B. sylvaticus, the latter having only 8 scales around the caudal peduncle and no pored scales in the lateral line; the distance between the type localities of these two species is only 100 km . Maximum TL was recorded at 4.2 cm .
