📖 Overview
Short-body arrowtooth eel (Dysommina brevis), first described by Vo & Ho, 2024 is a medium-sized fish in the family Synaphobranchidae (order Anguilliformes). Adults typically reach 31.90 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. Recorded depth range: 120 to 180 metres. It occurs in Tropical waters. It feeds on a mix of small fish and invertebrates as a mid-level predator.

This species is distinguished by the following characters: with a short trunk, its length 11.1%-11.8% TL or 0.82-0.85 times HL; short pre-anal length 24.6%-25.6% TL, eye diameter 11.8%-12.3% HL; ethmovomer with three large and one or two small compound teeth; fewer teeth on the upper and lower jaws .Cross section: oval.
