Pale cutthroat eel (Dysomma alticorpus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Synaphobranchidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters. This species can reach a maximum total length of 32.3 cm. With a trophic level of 3.8, it is a mid-level predator.

This species is distinguished by the following characters: presence of pectoral fin; dorsal fin origin well anterior to the base of the pectoral fin, predorsal length 13.8% TL; anus anterior and slightly behind the level of the tip of the pectoral fin, preanal length 22.8% TL; trunk is very short, 4.1% TL; body is relatively high, depth at the gill opening 7.6% TL, depth at anus 7.8% TL; intermaxillary teeth 2; compound teeth on the vomer 3; ipper jaw with 4 rows of teeth; lower jaw with 1 row of 8 large compound teeth; head pores:IO 4, SO 3; M 6; POP 0; AD 1, F 0, ST 0; lateral-line pores: predorsal 4, prepectoral 8, preanal 14, total 57–58, the last at the posterior two-thirds of the total length; MVF 7-16-115, total vertebrae 115; colour of peritoneum whitish, dorsal and anal fin pale .Cross section: oval.
