Occurs in torrential waters of mountain areas, clinging to the substratum using its mouth sucking disc .
Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal soft rays: 7. Differs from Discogobio yunnanensis, the only other species of the genus in Yuanjiang drainage in China, by scales on breast and belly extending forward at most to midlength of pectoral fin, except sometimes for a few isolated scales in naked area; and a stripe irregular, conspicuous on entire flank .
