📖 Overview
Cyphocharax Aspilos (Cyphocharax aspilos), first described by Vari, 1992 is a medium-sized fish in the family Curimatidae (order Characiformes). Adults typically reach 18.00 cm in maximum length. It inhabits freshwater systems including rivers, streams, and lakes. It occurs in Tropical waters. It feeds primarily on plankton, plant material, and detritus. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Least Concern.

🐟 Physical Description
Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11 - 12; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 9 - 10; Vertebrae: 32 - 34. Differs from other Cyphocharax (except aspilos) by the absence of multiple series of longitudinal patterns of dark pigmentation on body, the absence of a large spot of pigmentation on the body, the absence of a large spot of pigmentation on the dorsal fin, the absence of a rotund spot or longitudinal stripe of dark pigmentation on the midlateral surface of the caudal peduncle, number of lateral line scales, and the relative depth of the caudal peduncle 0.14-0.16 of SL .
