Highfin velvetfish (Cocotropus altipinnis), first described by Waite, 1903 is a tiny fish in the family Aploactinidae (order Perciformes). Adults typically reach 3.20 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. It occurs in Temperate waters. It is broadly omnivorous, taking invertebrates, plant matter, and detritus.
