A short-lived species. Adults inhabit marshlands, lowland water courses, springs and associated wetlands with still to moderately flowing clear shallow waters and mud to silt bottom . Oviparous, possibly with distinct pairing during breeding similar to congeners . Population is threatened due to very restricted area of occurrence .
