Careproctus Maculosus (Careproctus maculosus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Liparidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters. This species can reach a maximum total length of 4.6 cm. It occurs at depths between 273 and 300 metres. With a trophic level of 3.1, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms.

🐟 Physical Description

Dorsal soft rays (total): 42; Anal soft rays: 36. Can be diagnosed from all other congeners by the following combination of characters: vertebrae 46 (8+38), pectoral-fin rays 26, caudal fin rays 9 (4/5), radials 4, round ; teeth simple, stout canines; chin pores opening in a U-shaped pit opening posteriorly; disk about 1/3 HL, its distance from anus 2.8% SL (10.5% HL); prickles absent; gill opening above pectoral base; head 22.4%; preanal fin length 40.0% SL; snout-anus 25.0 % SL (92.7% HL); and peritoneum pale .: elongated.
