📖 Overview
Careproctus Longibarbatus (Careproctus longibarbatus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Liparidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters. This species can reach a maximum total length of 23 cm. It occurs at depths between 237 and 1020 metres. With a trophic level of 3.3, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms.

Dorsal soft rays (total): 56 - 60; Anal soft rays: 50 - 54; Vertebrae: 61 - 66. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: vertebrae 61-66; D 56-60; A 50-54; pectoral-fin rays 28-34; pectoral fin with distinct (deep) notch, lower lobe moderately elongate, slightly shorter than upper lobe, extending to below gill opening; pelvic disk rounded and greatly reduced; cephalic pores 2-6-7-2, chin pores paired in separate pits; gill slit large, extending ventrally to pectoral-fin rays 12-19; teeth simple or slightly shouldered; anus located below posterior rim of orbit; peritoneum dark brown, stomach black .Cross section: compressed.
