Adults inhabit rocky riffles, runs, and pools of headwaters, creeks, and small to large rivers . Subadults and adults feed on detritus, filamentous algae, diatoms and occasionally on small aquatic insects; young on rotifers and microcrustacea . Reported maximum length is 17 cm TL .
