This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: conspicuous wide and well-defined dark-brown longitudinal mid-lateral stripe on the inner skin layer over a plain yellowish background, extending from the opercular patch of odontodes to the first third of caudal-fin rays; and presence of dorso-sagittal line on the inner skin layer of large irregular circular blotches coalescing and forming a longitudinal stripe from occipital region to the base of dorsal fin .: elongated; Cross section: oval.
