Spineless Cusk-eel (Bathyonus pectoralis) is a ray-finned fish of the family Ophidiidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in deep-water environments. It occurs at depths between 604 and 4600 metres. With a trophic level of 3.6, it is a mid-level predator. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.
Body depth 9.5 or less in SL; head length about 1/2 preanal length; branchiostegal rays 8-9; no prominent spines on top or side of head; lower pectoral rays free and stronger than upper ones; caudal fin rays 6; precaudal vertebrae 17-19 .
