📖 Overview
Yellowtail bass (Bathyanthias mexicanus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Epinephelidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters. This species can reach a maximum total length of 15 cm. It occurs at depths between 70 and 135 metres. With a trophic level of 3.9, it is a mid-level predator. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

No prominent spines on opercle; body pale red; yellow line running from snout to lower edge of eye; chest silver-white; dorsal and anal fins edged with a yellow line; caudal fin pale red with upper and lower marginal yellow lines; pectoral and pelvic fins dusky .: fusiform / normal.
