📖 Overview

Large-crested lefteye flounder (Arnoglossus macrolophus) is a ray-finned fish of the family Bothidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in benthic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 13 cm. It occurs at depths between 18 and 141 metres. With a trophic level of 3.5, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. It is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Dorsal soft rays (total): 83 - 98; Anal soft rays: 65 - 77; Vertebrae: 41 - 42. Body with a large dark spot posteriorly on the base of both the dorsal and anal fins and with elongated anterior rays in the dorsal fin.: short and / or deep.
