📖 Overview
Mottled conger (Ariosoma kapala), first described by Castle, 1990 is a large fish in the family Congridae (order Anguilliformes). Adults typically reach 54.00 cm in maximum length. It inhabits marine coastal and open-ocean environments. Recorded depth range: 46 to 64 metres. It occurs in Subtropical waters. Diet is predominantly piscivorous, targeting other fish and larger prey. On the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Data Deficient.

🐟 Physical Description
This species is distinguished by having the following characters: body with mid-greyish brown background colour, covered with small, discrete, ovoid light spots, especially over head, trunk and dorsal and pectoral fins; precaudal vertebrae 74, total vertebrae 147; preanal 2.2 in TL, eye 5.1 in head; vomerine teeth on posterior half of bone molariform .: eel-like; Cross section: oval.
