Algae Scrubber (ATS)
A dedicated algae growth chamber that exports nitrate and phosphate by growing (and harvesting) algae biomass.
Price: Mid
For: Saltwater $100-$500
📖 Overview
A vertical or horizontal screen illuminated to grow filamentous algae. The algae absorbs nutrients from tank water, and weekly cleaning exports these nutrients from the system entirely. Growing in popularity as an alternative to protein skimmers.
🛒 Buying Guide
Especially valuable in tanks with persistent phosphate issues; works synergistically with skimmers.
