Northern Gulf anchovy (Anchoa mundeoloides) is a ray-finned fish of the family Engraulidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in pelagic environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 15 cm. With a trophic level of 3.4, it is a low-level carnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small organisms. 🐟 Physical Description

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 26 - 31. Snout pointed, about 3/4 eye diameter; maxilla moderate, tip somewhat bluntly pointed, reaching just to inter-operculum; gill cover canals of panamensis-type. Anal fin long, its origin under about middle of dorsal fin base. A narrow silver stripe along flank, about width of pupil.: elongated; Cross section: oval.
