East China leg skate
📖 Overview
East China leg skate (Anacanthobatis donghaiensis) is a ray-finned fish of the family Anacanthobatidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in deep-water environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 44 cm. It occurs at depths between 200 and 1000 metres. With a trophic level of 3.7, it is a mid-level predator.

🐟 Physical Description
Disc about as long as broad. End of snout with a short prolongation. Tail brownish dorsally, pale ventrally with a series of small blackish spots laterally; slender; width at the axis of pelvic fins 0.6-0.7 times as great as eye diameter; length from the middle of cloaca to its tip 0.8-1.2 times the distance from the middle of cloaca to the base of terminal prolongation of the snout. Closely resembles S. melanosoma differing in having the maximum width of disc at posterior 2/5, maximum anterior angle in front spiracles about 84-91° .: other.
