📖 Overview
Adults inhabit the main channels of the Rio Grande and Pecos River usually over sand or gravel. With two subspecies: N. s. simus known from Rio Grande above El Paso, Texas, but now possibly extinct; N. s. pecosensis known only in the Pecos River, New Mexico, recognized as a threatened subspecies .
