📖 Overview

Acentrophryne Dolichonema (Acentrophryne dolichonema) is a ray-finned fish of the family Linophrynidae. It inhabits marine (saltwater) waters in deep-water environments. This species can reach a maximum total length of 10.5 cm. It occurs at depths between 201 and 1105 metres. With a trophic level of 3.8, it is a mid-level predator. It is assessed as Data Deficient on the IUCN Red List.

🐟 Physical Description

Dorsal soft rays (total): 3; Anal soft rays: 3. Diagnosis: Metamorphosed females of Acentrophryne dolichonema differs from A. longidens in having a much longer distal escal appendage (27.6-35.7% SL vs. 2.3-2.5% SL ); a longer illicium (63.6-70.5% SL vs. 35.7-54.9% SL); a narrower head (25-28.1% SL vs. 35.7-37.3% SL); and a fewer number of pectoral fin rays (16 vs. 18-19) ; caudal fin rays 9, ninth ray (ventral most) 10.5-17.3% SL .: short and / or deep.
